Pope S. Mallette
Pope loves the law.
Pope has a broad practice that began with federal clerkships at the trial and appellate levels. He has litigated employment, civil rights, construction, commercial, zoning, and tort cases throughout Mississippi. In addition to his litigation practice, he serves as the city attorney for Oxford, Mississippi, and has a strong background in municipal government, zoning, ordinance, real estate, and annexation laws.
Pope has an extensive labor and employment law background and served as Chair of the Mississippi Bar’s Labor and Employment practice group. He has litigated all manner of employment disputes, from non-compete agreements or contract cases, to federal employment law disputes.
Pope has also litigated municipal annexation cases through trial and appeal, and has experience in both residential and commercial construction disputes. His zoning and municipal law experience round out a broad, statewide practice, and led to him to be elected as President of the Mississippi Municipal Attorneys Association.
Pope is included on the Mississippi Bar’s List of Mediators and has the practice experience to approach mediations from an unbiased and well-rounded perspective. Pope is a former adjunct professor for Employment Law, Municipal Law, and Federal Trial Practice at the University of Mississippi School of Law. He served as a law clerk to the Honorable E. Grady Jolly, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the Honorable William H. Barbour, Jr., U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi.
